Where Gender Equality Exists From Inception – Brahma Kumaris

We have been seeing a lot of changes happening in India very recently as far as the women are concerned. We have been seeing the women entering the temples for prayers and other religious activities which they were not allowed to do earlier. The women are being given the power equal to the men as far as rights are concerned.

At the Brahma Kumaris though, the story has been different. The organization was formed in 1936 with a group of around 300 students, mostly women. The founder of the institute decided to make a comity for running the administration of the organization and a 5 women comity was formed. The women have been given the power and the rights much before in the pre independence times when women were not allowed to even get basic education.

The former administrative head i.e. Dadi Prakashmaniji who has handled the administrative duties at the Brahma Kumaris had amazing skills to handle everyone which took the organization to a new level. The teachers who are there at the centers as centre incharge are also women.

Brahma Kumaris firmly believe that a Woman can be a better administrator as she possesses the qualities of love as well as discipline. We also see in temples various woman deities like Laxmi, Saraswati, Kali, Durga, etc. Woman can be portrayed in both the lovable form as well as the ‘Shakti’ (strong and powerful) form which is the symbol of discipline.

Today, the Brahmakumaris organization is being led by Dadi Janki ji, the Chief Administrative Head but at the age of 100 plus, she is leading by example and is getting all the co-operation by the students of the organization as a divine family.

It is a small yet wonderful family of 10 lakh regular students around the globe who continue to lead a peaceful life and also do their household chores with ease. Everyone has a family already but it is really wonderful to experience the love and affection of this Divine Spiritual Family you get at Brahma Kumaris. Om Shanti!!
